Hobbit Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Hobbit mobile application (the "App") collects, uses, and protects information when you use it. By using Hobbit you agree to the practices described below.

1. Who we are

Hobbit is operated by the publisher of the Google Play listing com.hobbit.app. References to "we", "our", or "us" mean that publisher (Valento Apps).

2. What Hobbit does

Hobbit is a calm personal productivity app for habits, tasks, life ideas, and thoughts. Most features work fully on your device without an account. Optional cloud sign-in unlocks backup, group habits, and a community thoughts feed.

3. What data we collect

3.1 Data on your device (default)

The App stores your content locally so you can use it offline:

Tasks	Titles, dates, and completion state.	Task lists and insights.
Ideas	Life ideas and linked tasks you create.	Long-term planning views.
Thoughts	Private thoughts you save in the App.	Your personal thought library.
App preferences	Theme, language, onboarding flags, widget snapshot data, and similar UI settings.	Personalise the App and home-screen widgets.

This local data is not uploaded unless you sign in and cloud sync runs, or you use group habits / community features described below.

3.2 Data stored on our servers (signed-in features)

When you sign in with Google and cloud features are enabled, we store:

Category	What it is	Why we need it
Account info	Your Google account identifier (sub), email address, and display name from your Google profile.	Authentication via Supabase Auth.
Cloud backup	Copies of your habits, habit actions, tasks, ideas, and private thoughts (same shapes as local data).	Restore on a new device when you sign in.
Public display name	A display name you choose for social features (change limited to once per calendar month).	Shown to other users in group habits and on community thoughts you publish.
Group habits	Group title, description, schedule, invite code, membership, and which members completed the habit on each day.	Shared habits with friends who join via invite code.
Community thoughts	Thought text you choose to publish, like/dislike counts, and your votes on others' thoughts.	Optional public feed inside the App.
Reports	Reports you submit about community thoughts that may violate guidelines.	Safety and moderation.

Publishing a community thought sends the text to our backend for automated content checks (including third-party moderation APIs) before it becomes visible to others.

3.3 What we do not collect

We do not:

sell your personal data,
use your data for third-party advertising profiles,
collect payment card data in Hobbit v1 (the App has no in-app purchases in this version),
record microphone audio or access your photo library for core features,
collect precise GPS location.

Aggregated diagnostics may appear in Google Play Console on Google's side; we do not embed a separate analytics SDK in the App.

3.4 Device permissions (Android)

The App may request:

Permission / feature	Use
Notifications	Optional reminders for habits (including group habits).
Boot completed	Reschedule local reminders after device restart.
Home-screen widgets	Show habits, tasks, ideas, or thoughts on your launcher (data stays on device).

You can deny notifications; core in-app use remains available.

3.5 Export and sharing

You may export a backup file or share thought images through your device's share sheet. We do not receive the contents of those shares unless you send them to us separately (for example by email).

4. Third-party services

Provider	Role
Google Sign-In	Authentication only. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Supabase	Cloud database, authentication backend, and edge functions for sync, group habits, and community features.
OpenAI (or similar)	Automated content validation on community thought text before publication. Receives the thought text only — not your email or name in that check.
Google Play	App distribution and optional in-app update prompts.

We do not share your personal data with advertisers.

5. How we use data

We use data only to:

operate Hobbit and optional cloud sync,
let you collaborate on group habits,
operate the community thoughts feed and voting,
enforce content guidelines and safety thresholds,
respond to support requests,
comply with law.

6. Your choices

Use Hobbit without signing in — local-only mode.
Sign out in Settings at any time.
Delete all local data in Settings → Data.
Delete cloud backup while signed in (removes synced collections from our servers; does not delete your Google account).
Leave group habits or stop publishing community thoughts.
Report community content that violates guidelines.

7. Retention and deletion

Local data remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Cloud backup data is removed when you delete your cloud backup in Settings or when your auth user is deleted from our backend (for example if you request account removal through support).

Community thoughts may be removed automatically when dislike thresholds are met, or through moderation.

8. Children

Hobbit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data and we will delete it.

9. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate (for example Supabase project region and subprocessors). We rely on appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App changes. The "Last updated" date is the source of truth. Material changes will be announced in the App when practical.
