Hobbit Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-06-20

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Hobbit mobile application (the "App"), distributed via Google Play under the package com.hobbit.app. By installing, opening, or using the App you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The service

Hobbit helps you manage habits, tasks, life ideas, and thoughts in a calm, minimal interface. Optional features include:

Hobbit is a personal productivity tool, not medical, therapeutic, legal, or professional advice.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Hobbit. By using the App you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

Optional features require Google Sign-In. You are responsible for securing your Google account. Anyone with access to your Google account may access your synced Hobbit data and social features tied to that account.

4. Local and cloud data

Most data lives on your device by default. When you sign in, the App may sync habits, tasks, ideas, and private thoughts to our cloud backend so you can restore them on another device.

You are responsible for maintaining backups that matter to you. Cloud sync reduces data-loss risk but is not guaranteed to be uninterrupted or error-free.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of content you create in Hobbit.

When you publish a community thought, you grant other signed-in users permission to view it within the App and to like or dislike it. You understand that published text is visible to other users and may persist until removed by you, by voting thresholds, or by moderation.

For group habits, members of a group can see the habit name, description, invite metadata, membership, and daily completion status for that group.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may remove community content, reject publication, or restrict accounts that violate these rules or our content guidelines. Automated checks may block publication before content goes live.

7. Group habits

Group habits are voluntary social features. Invite codes should be shared only with people you trust. We may enforce limits on how many groups you can create or join.

We do not guarantee that other members will complete habits or that invite codes remain private if shared widely.

8. Community thoughts

The community feed is optional. Thoughts may be removed when dislikes exceed likes by configured thresholds, when reported, or when we determine they violate guidelines.

Voting and feeds are provided as-is; we do not endorse user-generated content.

9. Intellectual property

The Hobbit name, branding, and App software are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you rights to our trademarks except as needed to use the App.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

Hobbit is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from or related to the App is limited to 50 EUR or the amount you paid us for the App in the past twelve months (if any), whichever is greater.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of data — including local data loss when you do not use cloud backup.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the service changes. Material changes will be announced in the App when practical. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the publisher's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence may still apply.
